We stand behind this wine because we cannot believe the quality for the price; it simply astounds.
The folks over at Bloem have had the presence of mind to recognize that a healthy ecosystem is of primary importance for vines not just to survive but to thrive as a living organism. This is an estate wine made to reflect the soil, climate and geology of the Simonsberg-Paarl area where it is grown. The winemakers use beetles and ducks for pest control instead of chemicals, cover crops in place of fertilizers. It is no wonder that this gracious white, a 72 // 28 blend of Chenin Blanc & Viognier, combining the fruitiness of the Chenin Blanc with the weight and earthiness of Viognier has our full attention. The only thing one wonders about is how it is not priced out of our hands. Let’s not jinx it. With the case discount it comes out to under $10.
How can an organic wine this good be this reasonably priced? Blame it on the South African market in the US, blame it on whatever you think might causally relate but one thing is for sure, if you’re on this page you’ve managed to navigate to one of the best deals in the shop. Here’s to it.
